Peek Into the Future: Here’s What Travel May Look in the Year 2050
With the way technology is progressing, it’s quite likely that we will have self-driving cars in the near future. But, how else do you think travel and transportation will transform in the future. We take a quick peek into the future to see what may be in store.
Futuristic, self-driving car
No, this is not just any normal self-driving car. It’s an electric car that has no gas, no steering wheels, and no break. Did we mention there’s also no driver? Your windshield may double up as a screen, helping you check the weather, surf the internet, or even take a quick selfie.
Drone delivery
Say, you’ve boarded your flight, and you’ve suddenly come to the realization that you forgot something important at home. If you are lucky, you could get a friend or family member to mail it to you. But, it’s likely you’ll have to wait a few days to get the product in hand. However, in the future, it’s likely that a drone-delivery app may be able to deliver your parcel to you, right to where you are.
Airports and flights
In the future, you’ll likely be able to check-in using a facial recognition kiosk and have your luggage sent to the correct flight, thanks to the artificial intelligence system used in the airport. CT scans may also help you quickly make your way through security while keeping all your electronics in your bag. Your flight itself is likely to be powered by renewable energy, and, of course, you may not have a pilot on board. But, given that almost 90% of the commercial flights that flew even back in 2010 operated only on autopilot, this is nothing noteworthy.
Of course, only time will tell what kind of changes await us. But, it’s nice to think of a world where transportation technology makes things like these a reality. Fortunately, many of these technologies are in the works, so it’s likely you’ll see them coming to fruition in the next few decades.
